An introduction with the Pulao

Pulao is a dish which is made up of rice and the combination of spices, also including different kind of vegetables (like potato, tomatoes, spinach, corn, onion etc.) Sprouts, dry fruits, Paneer etc. This becomes the most common and popular recipe in Indian cuisine as it takes hardly a few minutes to make.

When it comes to varieties, there are ample of varieties available for pulao with the difference of spices used or different vegetables or cooking style. Veg Pulao, Matar Pulao, Paneer Pulao etc. are examples of some commonly usedb.

It's your choice whether you want to use white or brown rice, but you should use long grain basmati rice for pulao for making the dish more attractive. To make the dish healthy, fitness lovers switch white rice with fibre-rich brown rice.

Apart from the main components like rice and spices, pulao gives you an opportunity to choose other ingredients as per your convenience. Not only just vegetables but you can go ahead with green veggies like spinach, Methi or the herbs like coriander and Mint. For making the dish more healthy you can opt for sprouts, paneer, tofu or soya chunks or even koftas. Different veggies bring colours to the recipe which helps to look your recipe more attractive.


Tips for making a good pulao:

1. Size of the pressure cooker or pan should be big enough so that ingredients can cook well.
2. Using the correct amount of water is very important, else, you will end up with gooey rice like khichdi.
3. Each rice grain should be separate from each other so that it looks attractive and taste good too.
4. Try to serve your pulao hot.
5. Always mix the pulao gently else rice grain will break from between.
